The Home Adaptations for Independence (HAFI) program provides financial assistance to help eligible low-income seniors and people with disabilities with the cost of home modifications that ensure accessible, safe and independent living in British Columbia.
As physical needs change, you may find you need to modify your home environment. Adapting a home improves accessibility and promotes independent living. Even small home adaptations can make a big difference in the lives of people who wish to remain in their homes longer.
As a low-income senior or person with a disability, living in your own home or in market rental accommodation, you may be eligible for assistance if you meet the following requirements:
- You are a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant and reside in British Columbia.
- You or any member of your household have a permanent disability or loss of ability that causes difficulty with daily living activities.
- Your total household income and assets are below the limits established. BC Housing can tell you the income and house value limits for your area when you apply.
If you are an eligible tenant living in market rental accommodation, your landlord will need to apply on your behalf.
